Clare Hewitt is a portrait and documentary photographer based in London. After completing a degree in law, Clare returned to university to pursue her passion for photography. She found that both subjects relate to a complex interest in human beings, their habits, behaviours and experiences. Through photography she could explore this in a more observational and creative way.
Clare's approach to her photographic subjects is therefore compassionate and perceptive, and she works with natural light to create gentle, thoughtful portraits that are a true reflection of character.
In 2011 Clare's work was selected for Fresh Faced + Wild Eyed at the Photographers' Gallery, and has since been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize. She is regularly commissioned by publications including The Independent Magazine, Oh Comely and The Telegraph Magazine.
